As part of the redevelopment project of the “Waterfront di Levante” in Genoa, designed by architect Renzo Piano and developed in collaboration with CDS Holding, Aresline supplied the seating for the new Palasport, built within the former exhibition area.
Inside this outstanding architectural complex, Aresline installed 4,000 seats, specifically designed and manufactured to ensure comfort, functionality, and flexibility. The layout of the seating follows the design of the eight petal-shaped tiers, four of which are fixed and four retractable, thanks to approximately 1,200 chairs installed on telescopic tribunes. This solution allows for the rapid reconfiguration of the Palasport space to accommodate different types of events: sports competitions, concerts, conferences, shows, and public gatherings.
Every element was carefully conceived to meet the architectural and functional requirements of the project. The seats have variable centre-to-centre spacing (49, 51, and 52 cm), perfectly adapted to the stepped layout. The installation also includes VIP seats with armrests and fully upholstered seats, seats with writing tablets for the press area, tip-up chairs essential for flexibility and reconfiguration, and four-legged chairs for the parterre.
One of the most distinctive aspects of the project is the creation of an entirely new chair, developed exclusively for the Genoa Palasport. Upon the specific request of architect Renzo Piano, Aresline designed and engineered Arena, a seat created to blend seamlessly with the aesthetic and functional identity of the venue.
Arena is a synthesis of design, ergonomics, and technological innovation, conceived to offer maximum comfort even in high-usage contexts.
The color choice was also the result of in-depth research and close dialogue with the architecture firm: the seats are finished in a custom shade, specifically requested by Renzo Piano, to ensure elegant and consistent integration with the overall architectural vision.
