The East Kowloon Cultural Centre is one of Hong Kong’s most advanced cultural venues dedicated to the performing arts and Arts Tech. Designed by Rocco Design Architects, with Theatreplan as theatre consultant and Marshall Day Acoustics as acoustic consultant, the complex features a diverse range of performance spaces, each tailored to accommodate traditional productions, experimental works, immersive experiences, dance, music, and emerging theatrical formats.
Aresline supplied seating solutions for several venues of the Centre. For the two principal performance spaces — The Hall, a multifunctional auditorium with approximately 1,200 seats designed for large-scale productions and live events, and The Theatre, a 536-seat thrust-stage venue where the stage extends into the audience to foster a closer connection between performers and spectators — Aresline developed and delivered a bespoke seating solution fully integrated with the architectural vision.
The project also included the installation of Myspace seating systems for the smaller, flexible venues, including The Lab, The Turns – Dance Studio, and The Beats – Music Lab. These spaces were conceived to support dynamic and reconfigurable uses, ranging from experimental performances and dance to amplified music, immersive productions, and activities focused on technological innovation in the performing arts. Where required, the Myspace seating systems were integrated with telescopic retractable seating.
This project further demonstrates Aresline’s expertise in delivering seating solutions for complex, multi-venue cultural developments, combining bespoke seating for major auditoriums and theatres with flexible systems designed for adaptable performance environments.
