Grimaldi Forum Monaco

Renovating two of the main halls at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco meant working within spaces designed to host international events, conferences, performances, and institutional gatherings, while preserving their architectural identity and improving comfort, functionality, and flexibility.

The project involved the Salle Prince Pierre and Salle Camille Blanc and included the complete replacement of the existing seating, the refurbishment of the ventilation outlets integrated into the flooring, and the installation of 1,178 Tempo chairs developed specifically for this project.

The main challenge was adapting the new seating system to the different geometries of the two halls without reducing their seating capacity. To meet this requirement, Aresline developed three different center-to-center dimensions - 56, 58, and 60 cm - designed to precisely follow the curved seating rows while ensuring visual consistency, comfort, and adequate circulation space.

Each chair was developed in a dedicated configuration, featuring side panels widened by 40 mm, a backrest raised by 50 mm, a seat depth increased by 20 mm, and an integrated writing tablet. A quick-release backrest system was also developed to allow maintenance operations to be carried out without tools, reducing both service time and maintenance costs.

The Grimaldi Forum also required maximum flexibility in managing different types of events. For this reason, all chairs were designed to be removable, allowing any seating position to be quickly cleared whenever required for organizational or protocol needs, without compromising the auditorium’s overall visual continuity.

This project demonstrates how seating design can play a key role in the renovation of an auditorium, turning what might appear to be a simple seating replacement into an integrated project that improves ergonomics, maintenance, flexibility, and the overall quality of the space.
