In 2019, the University of Catania, Sicily, issued a European tender for a three-year framework agreement with a single contractor, focused on the maintenance and upgrading of lecture halls across the entire university. The project, which began in early 2020 during the height of the pandemic, was completed in 2023.
The intervention involved approximately 200 classrooms across eight locations, totaling over 12,000 places. The project featured the installation of Omnia series, with both fixed and folding tables provided in a variety of finishes, Thesi workstations (seats and tables) for multimedia classrooms, and Tempo chairs for auditoriums. All workstations were equipped with electrical connections and, in some cases, cabled for data transmission.
The redevelopment also included a complete overhaul of electrical systems, flooring, painting, and the installation of lectern platforms with cabled teacher desks, blackboards, curtains, and other furnishings to create fully compliant and functional spaces.
This was an ambitious, multifaceted project that impacted all faculties in the city and was carried out in close collaboration with the university to minimize disruption to teaching activities.
